NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

We will wear masks, last rider can ride uncovered. Recent studies have identified the virus as airborne. The virus particles hang in the air and the rider behind you will ride through your particles. If that is done for extended period of time and you are infected, than it is possible for the rider behind you to be infected by you. That is why we need to ride with masks. The last rider can uncover because their is nonone behind them to be impacted by their air stream.
Club COVID-19 rules call for a maximum of 8 riders.
Please text me at 631-335-3201 to reserve a spot and include your emergency number and SBRA number.
I've raised the pace level to a B due to the forecast wind direction for the return trip and the temperature being more moderate. If it's necessary to finish with a B- pace I will have no problem slowing the ride down to keep together.
It will be a hot day so be prepared with hydration and a snack. Here's the route: https://ridewithgps.com/trips/51754179?privacy_code=t6WJlEtZmxnN3dog . Most of the roads are relatively quiet (Mill Road (the rolling stuff), Peconic Bay Blvd, etc). A quick fly-by to see Hava and Paul off Park Road in Baiting Hollow and some might want to roll down to Reeves Beach also. We'll take a food/bathroom break in Mattituck before heading home.
The ride will be following the SBRA COVID-19 Guidelines. I would like to limit the group to four or five riders (so far I've had less than a crowd ;-) and have the Ride Signup sheet filled out before the ride so Please text me at my cell # below with your name, club id# and emergency phone #.
You must have a mask on your person to do this ride ... I've been able to wear the multi-layer mask at ready as lowered around my neck while riding and would suggest you do the same.
I will asking riders to maintain at least 20' separation (hence the ride name). I will try to minimize calling out road hazards and be pointing to them instead … also with such a small group I will ask the warning of “car back” be only shouted out by the last rider and not repeated up the line
Call with any questions. Check back later for more info and on the day of the ride before leaving the house.
Note: Park accross from the Senior Center on Cove St., because the senior center has probably reopened. Text me if you wish to come, include the following numbers, cell phone, emergency #, and SBRA#. I will text back that you are in for the ride, or sorry, ride filled. This ride includes scenic stops, bathroom stops, coffee stop and ice cream stop. NO MASK, NO RIDE. Read all instructions that follow ride description. For info: text me. Any changes will be posted the day of the ride by 06:45am.
Come on my C paced ride of 18-22 miles at 10.6-11.6mph depending on riders. Newbies always welcome and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:00am. Park on North side of RR at East end of road. Bring face covering, water and a snack as route will be determined at ride start due to wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition.
Haven't done this route (one of my favorites) in awhile. Please text, call, email or post here if you are planning to ride since rides are limited to 8 people. We will make a stop for goodies at the Beach Bakery then sit outside there or at the little park Bill G discovered. Be sure you are familiar with the new sbra guidelines, are a paid up member and have signed the on line waiver.
If you wish to be included in this ride, you must text 631-331-5642 with your name, your SBRA #, along with cell and emergency #s. # of riders is limited.
NO MASK, NO RIDE. You must read special club instructions that follow my ride description.
Make sure to check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 02:30pm.
