This is a ruff stuff ride, we will be on multiple surfaces, some road, but mostly off the beaten path. Make sure you have wider tires. It is a different route from last year. Lots of scenic areas. No planned rest stop, there will be plenty of wait ups, and if you need a breather we will take one.
This ride is also perfect for those that have a gravel bike (cross bike) and want to push it to its limit. (underbiking)
Mountain bikes and Fat bike are welcome, (overbiking)
Any Questions? Please do not hesitate to contact me. The pace will not be 16 in the woods!I will keep the group together.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The ride could end end up a mile or 2 over 30.
The average pace for the ride will be between 15.1 to 15.9 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -18 mph.) to produce the average.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
Saw this level ride was not represented and felt I should do my part to help feed the hungry by offering this ride. I also look forward to seeing my friends after a long, too long, absence due to medical issues. Hope you will join me to help fight hunger, cause that is what the ride is about, fighting hunger.
Ride from Southhaven Park to Manorville at a B- average (14-15 mph). This will be a 29 mile ride but can easily be shortened to 27 miles if necessary.
This will be a mid-range B ride. Please visit the home page and contribute to LI Cares. It is a great organization and great way to contribute to people on Long Island in need.
Please text me at 631-335-3201 with any questions. If you are going to ride please text your name, sbra id and emergency phone number.
Join fellow SBRA riders to collect money and food for this very worthy cause. Mileage is approximate as I have to decide on a route. More details to follow. Must register via the website. Please bring non perishable food items if you can (no glass) and a snack to share after the ride.
We will be following Bobby's ride through Great River with a loop around Heckshire Park and back. With the same bathroom and cofee breaks at the park and bagel shop. Anyone who wants to do a slightly faster pace than Bobby, please join us. Paceline would be appreciated. We should come in at a mid 16 mph pace with cruising speeds slightly faster
