Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. I have limited time Saturday. So we are starting at 8am for this 40 mile loop. If any of you want to add on aftewards, please feel free. See you there!
We will be leaving the bank heading to Babylon. There will be a quick break at the Docks. This is a B- ride that will average around 14.5 - 15 mph with road speeds that will reach 16 to 19 mph.
I'm planning on leading a ride to Netties every weekend until Spring weather permitting. There is a nice warm wood heated cabin there for us to chill in during our break if it's cold outside. And two bathrooms are available.
.
Paceline ride group stays together. Wait ups or stops for those that fall behind.
Join me for this C+ ride, which will average 11.9 - 12.6; no one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Ride route will be determined by the road conditions; decision to be made the morning of the ride; no cue sheets. We will either head to Blue Point for the bathrooms at the Library, and then tour break at the Atlantic Ave. Deli; or to the Smith Point Marina, with a bathroom beak at Wertheim.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride you must text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
Sorry weather looks great, but have to cancel. Will reschedule
Forecast for Saturday looks good. Come join us for a ride from the Ronkonkoma train station up to Strongs Neck and then over to Old Field Lighthouse before making our way back to Ronkonkoma. We will be making a few scenic stops along the way, as well as a stop by a bagel shop early in the ride.
The ride starts at 9:45 and will meet near the Dunkin Donuts on the north side of the Ronkonkoma train station.
Ride has a number of hills, which everyone can take at their own pace. We will compress and bring everyone back together if we get spread out on a hill. Also, I am using a new route back from Old Field, so there is a possibility of a whoops
Please bring snacks and sufficient hydration. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
I prefer if folks text me at 917-921-5358 indicating that they coming. I usually forward the final ridewithgps file to those that text me.
Note: We will park directly across from the Senior Center, on Cove Street. This is a scenic ride out East, with water views along the Peconic River. We than head up to Cutchogue for lunch, with a choice of eating in an old, but well kept, aluminum, airstream like, diner, a bagel place, or seafood. Bring snacks and drinks for scenic stops. If the wind isn't bad, we will head up to the L.I. Sound on our return. If you have a bike lock, bring one, or share one of mine. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and and ride destination. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:45am.
