It will be SLOW on the Advance hills on the east side of Belle Meade. Depending who shows and how tired we are I may cut off the back end of Groundhog hill.
Text me at 631-988-6557 if you plan to ride with me and I will wait at the start if you're running late OTHERWISE if I don't hear from anyone, we may start early.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
This C+ ride of 18-25 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. Newbies welcome and well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:30am. No need to text, email, phone, send message by carrier pidgeon or smoke signal me. Just show up 15-20 minutes before ride start to get your s**t together.
Ride is an endurance ride. As for myself, just coming back and able to ride again. There will be one rest stop and waitups when needed. Posted at 10, the temperture should hit a robust 40. Hope to see you on March 1!
This is my first ride in a long while but the weather looks OK so I'm going to be brave!
Probably at the lower end of the C+/B- range due to lots or twists and turns, and general unfitness. This ride is a scenic ride, many water views. No official rest stop and maybe no bathrooms. Bring any nibbles and fluid that you need.
Park at the back left of the car park. There are bathrooms in the library. I always appreciate knowing if anyone is joining me - if no one is then Ann and I might leave early so let me know 631 331 5642
This will be on the low side od A-/B+. Just out getting ready for the season. Please check back as the weather has been changing. Hope to see you there.
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 21 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15 mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.
This ride will be a high C+ to a Low B- (13.0-14.0) and the short version of the ride. We will make a right out of the park instead of the left. Take a break at the bagel shop and then head back. Road speed from 13.5 to 15.0. Wind at your back, faster. Into the wind, slower.
Any changes or cancellation will be posted by 0745 the morning of the ride. Any questions text me at 631.484.3490.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park .I would like to keep the road speed between 15- 16 mph and come in at an average 14 and 14.9. Its still cold out there and alot of riders have not been riding. Pulls are always appreciated.
This will be a paceline ride out to Westhampton Beach through flat to rolling terrain. We'll pick up some of the classic Montauk RxR Century course, to get people familiar with the course. So, we'll be heading through Eastport and Remsenberg on our way East. The pace is going to be controlled, so no one gets dropped; this is early in the season!
We'll have a stop at either Goldberg's or the Beach Bakery in Westhampton Beach at around 18.5 miles. To keep from getting too cold, we'll try to keep the stop at a reasonable amount of time.
The return loop will take us back along Old Country Road and eventually to Manorville. Then it's back to William Floyd Parkway and the finish!
So bring two water bottles and some food to eat along the way, as we start to prepare for the cycling season.
This 18-24 mile ride will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. Route depends on riders ability, wind, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. As always newbies always well taken care of and no one gets dropped. Wheels down at posted time as "Daylights A Burnin" so get there 15 minutes before. Any cancellation will be by 8:00am. No need to text me, just "show n go".
Coming from LIE take Ronkonkoma Ave. South, just over RR bridge make 3 right turns, parking is on right, corner of Railroad AVe and Ronkonkoma Ave.
Coming from Lakeland Ave. Sunrise Hwy., go North just pass Vets Hwy make right on Smithtown Ave (following alongside of airport), just before bridge make right on Railroad Ave, parking is on left side (go past one way entrance and make 1st available left into lot).
This will be a mid C+/B- ride. Certainly not a race! It looks as if the weather will be OK with not too much wind. We will stop at Netties for a break.
I appreciate knowing if anyone is joining me. Please let me know, text 631 331 5642
I will be filling in for Mel this week, please check back Monday morning for any weather related updates. Everyone did great last week staying together at the B+ pace, this week we will be going at a SLIGHTLY faster pace to start building up for the warmer weather rides ahead. Normal wait ups will be maintained with our rest stop at Wildwood Lake.
This will be a fun recovery ride, so pull back on the reins of the horses and let's enjoy a spin!
Here's the details: So it's back to Westhampton Beach again, following part of the old Montauk RxR Century out to the Village. We'll then have a rest stop at around 15 miles at either the Beach Bakery, or Goldberg's. But wait, there's more...The return will take us up the Casa Basso rise and eventually through the neighborhoods of Jerusalem Hollow in Manorville. Since we changed-up the return route, keep your ears open for directions on the new return loop!
Since this is a B ride, we may do a little optional pacelining, but you don't have to do a pull if your uncomfortable! But, any pulls into the wind will be greatly appreciated.
This C+ ride of 18-25 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. A ride to Pleasure Drive. If you are looking for an A ride you are in luck! Jeremy has posted. This ride is down a few pegs. There one rest stop, at the end of Pleasure Drive. Please download the ride or be familiar with the route.
We missed doing it last week but depending who shows maybe we'll do the Rt 112 loop and jump over to Glacier Ridge for the Darkside of the Moon and Eclipse before heading back to Overton. We'll skip some of the BDs after that.
Text me at 631-988-6557 if you plan to ride with me and I will wait at the start if you're running late OTHERWISE if I don't hear from you, we may start early.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
oOLet's get together and do 5 laps non-stop of the 6.25 mile Grumman Time Trial Loop! We'll ride this like a team time trial, with everyone taking turns pulling the paceline into the wind. The course is lightly rolling with just four corners, so you don't have to worry about getting lost!
The pace will be an early season B+ pace, to keep everyone together. We warmup for around 0.8 miles at the start, and we do an 0.8 mile cooldown at the end. If you get tired, you can either use the Line Road shortcut to catch-up, or you can continue to ride solo. The last lap is at your pace, with a sprint to the Llama farm. SO...https://youtu.be/VvrP4fpJb04

Becuse of the predicted high winds I'm leading a Mountain Bike ride at the Calverton trail. This will be a B+ ride and we will have the usual excessive amount of waitups for anyone dropping off the back.
Please note: Park at the Veteran's Park lot and we will ride over to enter the MTB trail.
RIDE START DELAYED TO *** 9:30 AM ***. While the website was down, we changed the start time!
Let's continue our endurance riding, building-up our base for the cycling season and the Montauk RxR Century. This will be a paceline ride, with everyone working together.
The actual route will follow much of the middle section of the Century route, so people will know what to expect. So, we'll be riding eastbound through Eastport, Remsenberg and Westhampton Beach. We can stop in Westhampton Beach on the way to the Refuge, if people want to pick-up a snack. We'll then go to the Refuge for a quick stop and then begin our return.
The return takes us to along Old Counrty Road to Manorville. Then it's back to North Street, through the neighborhoods and the finish down William Floyd Parkway and Victory Avenue.
We will be leaving the bank heading to Babylon. There will be a break at McDonlds around mile 20. This is a B- ride that will average around 14.5 - 15 mph with road speeds that will reach 16 to 19 mph.
This C+ ride of 18-23 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. Riding to Hecksher from Stony Brook, 50% Bobby’s route, probably averaging around 13, depending on wind. Snack stop either in park or at bagel store, group decides.
Please text if coming so that I start from Marshall’s, not home. 631-835-1454.
Here's an early season B ride, from Sayville Train Station to Babylon! We'll stop in Babylon at the deli or bagel shop.
Sayville Train Station is on Depot St., just off Lakeland Ave. We usually park in the smaller south parking lot, across from the school. The last I checked, there wasn't a parking fee! And the station should be open...
While we're in Babylon, we'll check-out the Babylon Train Station which is the start of the Montauk RxR Century.
On this nearly flat ride, we'll take the north route out of Sayville and head along the Vet's Hwy. bike lane to Connetquot Ave. to Union Blvd.; this way we'll avoid some of the many, many traffic lights! After the stop, we'llreturn along the Century route along Union Blvd. and Montauk Highway, and back through Oakdale to get back to Sayville. But, we'll change things from the regular Sayville RxR rides, as we will take the south route around Sayville to avoid the Village - so listen for directions.
Plan on a solid fun B-Level Ride, where no one gets dropped. The temperature should be in the 50s with light winds, so a good day to dust-off the bike and ride!
Any help with pulls into the winds will be appreciated!
This C+ ride of 18-25 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. It should be a nice day so we're heading to the Beach (Beach Bakery in Westhampton). Very scenic route with a short stretch on Dune Rd before hitting the bakery for 15 min hydration/food/rest room break. No one gets dropped.
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the Beach. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there. The average pace for the ride will be between 14 to 15.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. The road speed will be between 16.0 and 17.0 mph. The usual break-a-ways will happen for those who desire. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out. Pulls are appreciated.
This will be the shorter version of the route. We will be going to Wertheim, taking a break there and then heading back. The road speed will be between 14 and 16mph. Faster, slower depending on the wind direction. We should come in with an average somewhere arount 13.7; maybe a tad higher or lower. At the end we can stop in at the resturant for some good stuff.
Any changes or cancellation will be posted by 0745 the morning of the ride. Any questions text me at 631.484.3490.

Lets leave Southaven Park for a quick spin up to Wading River.
We'll zig-zag through the Pine Barrens, where the winds will have less of an impact on the ride! We'll start out with Victory Ave. which has some bad sections, so we'll only ride a small section of it. Take it easy on Victory eastbound! This will be a regular ride now through early fall.
This ride is hills 101. We ride to the Setauket lighthouse (where we have our snack) and back. There is no bathroom on this ride. Doing this ride over the weeks makes us stronger on hills and on the flats. We ride together on the flatter sections and when we get to the hills we take them at our own pace and meet up at the top. New hill riders are welcome. Any questions, please text me at 631-835-1454.
Please let me know if you're coming on the ride (text above). If there are no takers, I will leave from home. Hope to see a few SBRA'ers Tuesday. Any change or cancellation will be posted by 8am morning of ride.

It's off to the 6.25 mile Time Trial Loop for 5 laps of non-stop fun, plus warmup and cooldown. We'll try to get this ride in before the winds really pick up!
The plan is to ride this as a team time trial, with everyone taking pulls and no one gets dropped. Well, maybe the no drop rule might not hold for the last lap - that one is at your own pace!
So bring enough water and snacks to keep going, this train will be pretty much non-stop!

It's off to visit Area 51, and this time we'll take a run up to the Col de RCN. We'll pass by the Antenna, as we grind our way to the top of the evil Antenna Hill.
We'll do this ride without a food stop, just a quick rest stop and some regroups. So once we warm-up, we'll keep warm. So, after we do Mill Road, we'll have the traditional quick stop at the gas station. We'll also do a regroup at the traffic light after the 51 Hill, and one after the Antenna Hill.
So pack some water bottles and some snacks, as we visit Area 51 again.
I have to be back early today, otherwise I'd do a ride with more distance. But, there still will be plenty of fun!
This is the same Sunday ride as usual the road speed will be 14-17 and should average around 14.9 which is what we have been averaging. Of course if it is windy then things could change. We will have a bathroom stop at Heckscher Park, and a coffee stop at Islip Terrace Bagels. I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance in pulling. Please check the ride calendar morning of the ride incase of inclement weather any cancellations will be posted by 7:15am.

Gonna try to get Monday Afternoons a try for StonyBrook Hills. The warm up will be StonyBrook College loop. This will allow for anyone that can't start till 4pm to join ride. We will park at the Train station by old Getty. SB loop is about 3 miles we will then meet at Carl Hart (old Campus Bike Shop) to sign in anyone that shows up after warm up loop. We will stop at the light house Briefly and move on to the Hills. May eliminate Meadow Beach. Cordwood will have a brief wait up.
I know that I would do Overton ONLY skipping some BDs we DID last week but include what we SKIPPED last week (Rock Garden, Wish You Were Here, the Chimney and Wild Turkey 2). Depending who shows maybe we'll do the Rt 112 loop and jump over to Glacier Ridge for the Darkside of the Moon and Eclipse before heading back to Overton. We'll definitely skip some of the BDs after that.

Text me at 631-988-6557 if you plan to ride with me and I will wait at the start if you're running late OTHERWISE if I don't hear from you, we may start early.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.

We'll then head back south along Route 24 and Bellows Park Road to Hampton Bays and eventually hit the old Casa Basso to Eastport.
In case anyone needs a food stop, we can have an optional stop at Hampton Bays Bagel at the 26 mile mark.
Calverton dries pretty quickly so I expect sticky dirt and wet leaves .... if it's too wet I might head over to the park for a 9 mile spin on the bike path ... will be parking at the trail head as I'm an optimist.
