SBRA sponsors the 25th Annual Fund Raising Event to benefit both the Guide Dog Foundation for the blind®. The foundation raises, trains, and furnishes guide dogs, free of charge, to people who are visually impaired or have other special needs, that seek the independence, mobility, and companionship a guide dog provides.
Leaving from the The RINX, Hidden Pond Park, 660 Terry Road, Hauppauge, NY, rides range from a 10 mile fun ride to a challenging 63 miles. Depending on the length of the route, riders will tour Ronkonkoma, Holtsville, Yaphank, Rocky Point, and Wading River.
For the past 25 years, the Guide Dog Foundation’s annual bike-a-thon has been one of their most popular events, and last year, their first Wag ‘n Walk dog walk had over 200 participants. This year, we have combined these events to create the inaugural Guide Dog Foundation Stroll & Roll. On Sunday, September 28, 2014, please join us for this fun family, and pet friendly event to benefit the Guide Dog Foundation. Download the event brochure HERE, or visit: www.Stroll.GuideDog.org
All registered participants will enjoy fun festivities throughout the day.
A welcome ceremony, live music, assistance dog demonstrations, raffles and door prizes. Fun activities for all !!
Lunch available for a $5.00 (donation) from noon to 3:00 pm.
You can "Roll"
Bike riders will now leave from The Rinx at Hidden Pond Park in Hauppauge. SBRA has developed new and exciting routes through central Long Island, ranging from flat terrains for casual riders to challenging courses for experienced bikers.
The 10, 20, and 32 mile tours are escorted by volunteer marshals from SBRA. The 52 and 63 mile tours are unescorted. Riders are provided with cue sheets, and roads are marked along the route.
SAG support vehicles to assist riders with difficulties (click here for more details).
Rest/water/food stops are available along the routes.
If you want a more rugged ride, try the Rinx 1.25 mile mountain bike trail. This is an un-escorted ride; start anytime between 8 and 10 a.m. Make one, two, or three loops. This mountain bike trail is a fun way to ride off the road. Trail instructions will be provided.
Helmets are required for all riders.
This event date is Rain or Shine.
