This year we are doing the Ride of Silence in coordination with the national Ride of Silence. This ride is a memorial for those who have died while riding their bicycles. The idea of this ride is to raise the consciousness of the non-cycling public to the hazards that cyclists face while sharing the road with motor vehicles. Many of the current members of SBRA do not know that an ex-President of SBRA, Jeff Ferber, was killed by an automobile while on a bicycle ride in Colorado in 2004. A memorial posting for Jeff is available on the RoS site. On this ride there will be only one slow pace maintained by all riders. All traffic laws will be obeyed. Note that we don't start at the offical time of 7 PM due to darkness related safety concerns. Regardless, it is suggested to have front and rear lights on your bike for this ride and to wear light colored/reflecting clothing as it will be close to dark when we finish. More information, including a ride start further west and the route will be provided as the date approaches.
