Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

UPDATE - SATURDAY 8:00AM - I WILL BE DOING A SHORTER RIDE AT A SLOWER PACE STARTING AT 1:30PM.

RIDE UPDATE - FRIDAY 1:00PM - DUE TO A FAMILY EMERGENCY I AM UNABLE TO COMMIT TO LEADING THE RIDE AS SCHEDULED. IF POSSIBLE, I MAY UPDATE THIS POSTING TOMORROW WITH A LATER START TIME AND A SHORTER DISTANCE FROM THE SAME LOCATION. I WILL REPOST THE CENTURY FOR NEXT SATURDAY, WEATHER PERMITTING.

This ride will be a combination of last week's 60-mile ride to Cutchogue with an additional 40-mile loop out to Orient Point State Park.

B riders only, please. Pace will be somewhere in the 15MPH range, subject to change depending on wind conditions. I would not recommend attempting this ride unless you have done one or more 50+ mile rides in the past few weeks.

Bring snacks, there will be no extended food stop but there will be food and rest room stops spaced about 20 miles apart. Ride will start and finish in Eastport. There is no SAG support as there is on the Montauk Century so please make sure you have an alternate means of returning to the ride start if you cannot complete the ride.

Near the end of the ride ( around mile 90 ) there will be an opportunity to detour into Westhampton Beach and stop at the Beach Bakery for a well-deserved snack. This would add about 2 miles to the total mileage.

The weather forecast for Friday night into early Saturday is still iffy. I don't want to take a chance on riding in misty or damp conditions during the early part of the ride but I also don't want riders to have to wait until very early Saturday morning to know whether the ride is on or not so I will post a final "go/no go" decision at 8:00PM on Friday. If the ride is a "no go" but the forecast looks better for later in the day I will change the posting on Saturday morning to a shorter ride ( 30-35 miles ) starting later in the morning or early in the afternoon.
