The Thule Apex or Yakima SwingDaddy

I’m looking for some guidance. I’m in the market for a new bicycle rack for my Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. With that, I need a swing arm rack so that I can swing the rack loaded with bikes off to the side of the truck to open the truck’s tailgate.

I've done some research on the two main players out there, the Thule Apex 9027 and Yakima’s SwingDaddy.

As-it-stands, I’m leaning more towards the Thule Apex for several reasons:

    1) the newer design - it seems more advanced overall
    2) the arms are arced for more ground clearance
    3) there seems to be more clearance between bikes.
    4) the cradles are the new “Hold Fast” cradles with road-dampening to reduce shock and vibration.
    5) then there is the EasyMount system with integrated locking

Does anyone have any input on either one of the two racks? Or… is there something better out there?

I would appreciate any help. Thank you

    Tom
