I've come to learn about a program called Workers without Wheels. On April 2nd from 9-3, at the Congregational Church of Patchogue, people may be able to receive a new or used bicycle. This program is targeting people who can't afford gas, insurance, those who can't drive due to medical conditions,etc, but still need to get to work. Pastor Dwight Lee Wolter (contact numbers 631-475-1235 or 631-891-9908) is looking for donations of new or gently used bikes as well as any size cash donation. Bike mechanics will be on hand to repair bikes and volunteers will be putting the new bikes together and ferrying them to the church from nearby Long Island Bicycles. If you have a bicycle sitting in the garage that you might wish to donate, please call one of the two contact numbers above.
