NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

RIDE IS CHANGED TO SUNDAY, 10/6, AND NOW IS A C PACE.
This will be an easy C ride, as I haven't been on the bike for about two weeks. We will ride around Center Moriches with an average of 11.2 - 11.9 and will be taking our break at Nettie's. There are some very nice water views along the way. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Since the exact route will be determined as we go along, there will not be a cue sheet.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride, text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
MEETING LOCATION: straight back from Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts, on the EAST SIDE of the shopping center.
This is an RSVP ride. I can only take 6 additional people on this ride due to the carry-on-bicycle limitations on the NYC Ferry.
As of now... only 3 spots remain open.
Here's the plan....
Roosevelt Island 59th Street Bridge Central Park NYC Ferry from UWS to Wall Street South Street Seaport Battery Park Brooklyn Bridge Brooklyn Piers Prospect Park kosciuszko Bridge Pulaski Bridge Gantry Plaza State Park
The riding route is about 35 miles with about 1000 ft of elevation (plus 7 leisurely miles on the ferry). A 35 mile city ride with stops for sightseeing and photos can be a longer day than you might expect. I hope to be back at the cars by 3pm. Here's a link to the route:
Bring snacks and gels. We make stops fairly often, plus there will be an official rest stop somewhere along the way.
Obviously… not your typical "club ride". It's more like a day-long adventure ride. I'm very selective about the roads/paths I choose. Most will have a designated bike lane. A few will not. Some bicycle paths will have bumpy segments. I prefer to use my back-up "rain" road bike with 28mm tires.
This is a B/B+ ride ... not so much for the speed, but more for the hills (bridges) and the general confident bike handling skills required to navigate a variety of advanced cycling situations.
Contact me (text) in advance if you plan to come. Provide me with your SBRA Member # and I'll sign you in.
If you need an address for your GPS to find the start location, then use 42-25 Vernon Blvd, Queens, NY 11101
Feel free to text me with your questions or concerns.
Let's meet at the Kreb Cycle in Eastport for a ride out to the Citarella Market in Southampton Village. This will be a paceline ride, but we will work with each other so no one gets dropped! The plan is for this to be a fun ride, not a training ride, so be ready to work together!
On the way East we'll follow one of the Century Training Rides, riding through Remsenberg and Westhampton Beach. We'll probably have a rest stop around 18 miles on the way East, and we'll reach Citarella at around 29 miles. After a gourmet food stop, we'll head back on the return loop eventually doing the Casa Basso and Old Country Road.
Note: Please park in the northwest corner of the parking lot behind the Kreb Cycle in Eastport.
