Dear Cycling Clubs & Associations:
PRESS RELEASE (link in ad below)
PROMO Video: http://www.cyclequisqueya.org/video
As a member of the Organizing Committee of the inaugural "Tour de Quisqueya" (Haiti), which is scheduled for January 2016, it is my pleasure to share with you the below information about this road-cycling project (www.cyclequisqueya.org). Please consider sharing and helping us attain active participation of cyclists.
We are planning with a total of 30 participants for the premier edition of the Tour: 20 international cyclists who through their participation and associated fees will subsidize the cost of participation for ten local cyclists. To this effect and with virtually no marketing budget, we hope that you may be able and willing to help share the word with prospective participants and/or sponsors across your publications and online outlets.
Members of the Organizing Committee and participating international cyclists currently represent the states of NY, NJ, MA, AZ. We expect to attract the participation of cycling enthusiasts, diaspora populations and adventure tourists.

The project has no financial self-interest and is organized on a pro-bono basis motivated by our passion for the sport and our love for the people of Haiti.
Amongst other objectives, the Tour aims to support aspiring young local cyclists and clubs, and to develop an annual Tour that will attract growing numbers of international amateur cyclists. Please refer to the below newsletter for more details such as the integrated tree plantings along the route. We also have a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/tourdequisqueya) and a short promotional video (www.cyclequisqueya.org/video).
Thank you in advance for your time, your consideration, and your kind promotional support. Please do not hesitate to contact me in case of questions or other helpful ideas. We look forward to having this adventure with you!
On behalf of the Tour de Quisqueya Organizing Committee,
Regards,
Matthias Resch

ABOUT
The Tour de Quisqueya (f.k.a. Tour d'Hispaniola) is the brainchild of the Léogâne Cycling Club. Multiple partners and stakeholders assembled in Léogâne in
May of 2015 for a Planning Meeting. The name of the Tour was changed to
"Quisqueya" to acknowledge cultural heritage and the indigenous name
given by the Taino people who are the original inhabitants of the island
shared by Haiti and the D.R.
Subsequent to this meeting,
an official route scouting mission took place. All roads have been
cycled, all hotels have been visited, and all cities and towns along the
route have been consulted. The result is the inaugural "Tour de Quisqueya, Cayes - Cap Edition".
Scheduled for January 9 to 18, 2016
the Tour will include 6 days of cycling, optional social and
environmental volunteering, cultural excursions, leisure time to soak up
natural beauty, water-sports and beaches, and a large-scale tree
planting festival coinciding with the anniversary of the January 12,
2010 Earthquake right at its epicenter in Léogâne.
The
Tour is tailored to cyclo-tourists and serious cyclists alike. In
addition to the winter destination training there will be one optional
time-trial, two mountain stages, and one "distance challenge" for those
ambitious enough to compete.
The Tour will provide a lens
through which to explore culture and natural beauty of an island
destination too often overlooked.
|
OBJECTIVES
The Tour aspires to:
- promote the sport of cycling and tourism in Haiti
- fully sponsor all costs for local participants
- motivate and equip local cyclists with bikes, gear and tools
- aid local cycling clubs with capacity building and training methods
- establish the Tour as an annual event and evolve to a recognized Tour on the international amateur and pro circuits
- support the local economy
- connect people with causes and with each other
- work with the National Olympic Committee and the Ministries of Sports and Tourism

SPONSORSHIP
Long
story short, this project requires a little extra help. Overall
expenses for 30 participants including local logistics, support,
accommodation and board are estimated at around $60k. We budget with 20
international participants whose fees will subsidize 10 local cyclists.
After that we currently have a gap of approximately $20k.
Please consider supporting us through financial sponsorship, in-kind donations or underwriting one or more local cyclists.
To learn more, please refer to our sponsorship deck online. Thank you for considering. Let's build a relationship now and into the future.
