    Intro with Some Questions

Hello all. I did not see a dedicated introduction forum (I'm at work and did not look very hard; please forgive me if I missed it). Hopefully my first post is in the correct spot. I officially joined SBRA a few moments ago.

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Anthony. I recently purchased a road bike (Specialized Roubaix Elite) and although I have done minimal rides on it, I am quickly learning what a pleasant escape it is without having the hassel of mounting the bike and heading to the trails. Mountain biking is still my primary activity of choice for various reasons (safety of the trails tops that list). Upon hearing the tragedy which occurred on 25A - I quickly began learning of the Ride of Silence. It sickened me to hear the story and the details surrounding it and would like to be a part of the solution for my own safety as well as that of my fellow riders.

I do have a few questions for the veteran members.

    1. Group Rides. I noticed a speed range listed for the various rides. Are these strictly adhered too? I have been on MtB rides where they were listed 1 way and quickly escalated.

    2. The RoS - is that an SBRA event or is that open to all riders?

    3. I have never ridden in formation (forgive me for not knowing the terminology as of yet) - is that something easily learned on shorter, beginner rides?

    4. I live in Holbrook and mainly I ride on Patchogue-Holbrook Rd down to Middle Rd. and recently went to Heckscher Park (Wednesday of last week with all that wind :/ ). can anybody suggest other routes in the Holbrook Area that are somewhat safe?

Please feel free to add anything that may help me in my transition from mountain biker to general cyclist. I look forward to meeting some of you on the roads.
