Rocky Point-Yaphank Road from Whiskey to 25A is unsafe for all cyclists, especially group rides. Rumble strips have been cut into the asphalt of the bike lanes on both sides of the road. There is still approximately 3 feet of the bike lane to the rigth of the Rumble strips. However even there it is unsafe to ride due to the debris that comes off the rumble strips. This debris will probably continue to accumulate on the remaining part of the bike lane. Usually wind generated by passing cars helps keep the bike lane clear. I doubt this will happen with the rumble strips there. So, I SUGGEST YOU AVOID USING THIS SECTION OF ROAD ON YOUR SBRA RIDES.
This section of road has preserves on both sides for the entire length of the rumble strip section. I assume this was done because there have been many fatal car accidents along this stretch.
