    SOLD - Trek 660 Racing Bicycle 49cm Reynolds531 $440 - SOLD

Complete bicycle. Full Reynolds 531 lugged steel frame. Hand-made in 1984 in Waterloo, Wisconsin.

This is a true racing frameset, with tighter, stiffer geometry. Still, a comfortable and exceptionally well-handling ride.
A "low-slung speedster". Perfect for someone 5' to 5'6" tall.
Has Braze-Ons for: brake cable guides, shift levers, two water-bottle cages and chain hanger. Comes with one black alloy water-bottle Cage.

Trek made only three models above this one. See:
    http://vintage-trek.com/TrekBrochure1984Racing.htm

The frame is in excellent condition, with only paint touch-up.
    No dents, dings or rust.

    COMPONENTS:
Headset, Shifters, Bottom Bracket, Crankset (165mm arms; 42x52 rings,) and both Derailleurs are ALL CAMPAGNOLO Nuovo Record, Pat. 84.
These are all original to this bike, (and worth well over $200 if parted out.)

Handlebar, Stem and Seatpost are all S.R. (Sakae Ringyo.) These are also original to this bike.

Trek reserved the option of substituting components. For instance, late in 1984 Trek used Ofmega Cranksets on this model.
Mine is Campagnolo. They also showed a Delrin (resin) Stronglight Headset as standard. Again, mine is Campagnolo.
To quote from Trek's 1984 Catalogue: "... If substitution is made, the new parts will be of comparable or superior quality and performance to those originally specified."
Some fool told me that these Campy parts "would lower the value". Yeah; right.
The flutes on the Crankset and Seatpost are frame-matching Red.

    What's different...
Brakeset is Shimano 600, (original was Modolo. Their Sinterized brake-Pads work great, but are hard on rim surfaces, especially anodization.)
Saddle is a Vetta. Pedals are Gipiemme (Italian) "Dual Sprint" model, with black plastic Toeclips and Lapize leather Straps.
    Wheelset! See below...

All components are in excellent condition (except age/wear on the pedal Straps.)

    ATTENTION!
    • Wheelset is Mavic G40 Rims (700c dark grey/black hard-anodized) laced to 36-spoke Campagnolo low-flange Hubs. (The original wheelset was Matrix rims on Maillard hubs.)
    Freewheel is a Maeda (Suntour) six-speed: 13-15-17-20-23-26
The Tires are Vittoria Diamante Pro, 700 x 23 clinchers w/yellow sidewalls, and have at least 50% tread life remaining. Wheelset alone worth over $150.

If I can't sell this as a complete bike, with a great frame and top-quality components, (and at a very good price,) then I will part it out.
I'm unemployed, need the money, and have three other bikes.
    Thanks!
