Suffolk County needs your help and support for a new, exciting project in our community.
Suffolk County is considering the construction of a 10-mile long pedestrian and bicycle path from Port Jefferson to Wading River within the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) property, which runs parallel along the north side of Route 25A. This path would be used by nearby communities for walking, jogging and biking.
It is anticipated that this path will facilitate non-motorized travel within the Port Jefferson to Wading River corridor, benefiting communities within the area by broadening travel options for non-drivers, increasing recreational activity and exercise, and helping to create a more livable community. Similar to the recently completed Setauket Greenway, this project will be a significant benefit to the local communities of Mount Sinai, Miller Place, Sound Beach, Rocky Point, Shoreham and Wading River.
A Public Informational Meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Rocky Point VFW, 109 King Road, Rocky Point (just east of Broadway). We encourage you to attend this meeting to show your support for this important project.
