Folks,
There will be a second Rails To Trail Meeting for the Port Jefferson to Wading River trail on the LIPA lines this Wednesday evening at 7pm at the VFW Hall @ 109 King Road in Rocky Point. This will be the second meeting. At the last meeting the folks that lived adjecent to the power lines were invited by the DOT. It appeared to me that they out numbered the rest of the general public that attended that meeting and therefore had a greater voice. If possible please attend. This trail will extend the Stony Brook (now begins in East Setauket) to Port Jefferson trail by having to travel only about a mile on Hallock Road and will run out to Wading River. Here's a link to a map where I estimated the route: (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5747389). This will be a 14 mile multi-use trail that will end about 2 miles from where Rt 25A turns down to meet Rt 25. This part of Rt 25A has a broad shoulder and is already marked for bicycle traffic. Where Rt 25A meets Rt 25 there will someday hopefully be another multi-use trail by Riverhead town around the Grumman Calverton property.
Please try to attend and let them hear some voices from the biking community.
